We have received the sad news of the death of Roberto Gottardi, which took place last October 5 at the age of seventy-eight, in Arcore (Monza-Brianza), in the retirement home where he had been hospitalized for about a year.
Everyone was familiar with his shy nature and his very original vision of philately, which led him to collect without too many pretensions, but with the desire to get to exhibit always and in any case on any topic: football, the airship “Italia ”, Polar expeditions, Christmas, Brianza, military contingents abroad and many other topics, which would be difficult to list all. An original goal, as we said, which allowed him to reach a thousand presences.
However, his shy nature did not prevent him from collaborating with other enthusiasts, so much so that he was enrolled in various philatelic associations, even becoming first secretary and then president of our association from 2013 to 2018, as well as president of TURINPOLAR.
After leaving the AIDA presidency, always keeping a careful eye on postal regulations, marcophilia and mechanophilia, he continued for some time, as long as he could, to edit the marcophile page of our magazine. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.
